Subject Notes This bridge was opened in 1900. Prior to that the only way to cross the canal was by a pend under the canal. It was replaced by a swing bridge in 1936. GR NS 824 800.

Associated Notes The Forth and Clyde Canal opened in 1790, connecting the River Forth at Grangemouth to the River Clyde at Bowling. As it was a ship canal, the bridges over it had to open in order to allow vessels with masts to pass through.
