Brief Description Gold coloured tin with a hinged lid. The lid is embossed with a design featuring the bust of Queen Mary in the centre, flags to either side, a battleship below and a sword and scabbard above.
These tins were issued to troops serving in France in the First World War during Christmas 1914.Part 1 : Gold coloured tobacco tin (laquered). Names of countries stamped on lid. Image on reverse side of lid. Part 2 : Tobacco tin. Wrapping of paper and silver paper. Contains tobacco.
Part 3 : Opened packet of twenty cigarettes. Packet describes the Christmas Fund, 1914.
Part 4 : Christmas greeting card with message from the Princess Mary and Friends at home, 1914.

On the tobacco tin is "Her Royal Highness the Princess Marys Christmas fund 1914 Tobacco". ON the cigarettes is "Her Royal Highness the Princess Mary's Christmas Fund 1914 Cigarettes" with an image of Mary seated. The greeting card has an image of a crowned monogram and holly bush with " M 1914 with best wishes, for a Happy Christmas and a Victorious New Year from the Princess Mary and friends at home"
