Zetland Arms was built in 1858 (Murphy).The house between the buildings has already been demolished. The Ship Inn building was known as the "Highlands" because it seemed so tall when built. In 1856 an omnibus connected the Zetland Arms twice daily to the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway.
