James Rankine, son of John and Isobel Rankine died on 30 April 1839 without issue. His wife, Euphemia Watson or Rankine inherited his estate. After James’ death a child was born to Euphemia in May 1840. The child was likely to have been illegitimate but might have a legal claim as lawful heir.
