Description
Black silk mourning dress. It has a narrow stud collar of cream silk trimmed in black silk satin and covered in black cotton lace. It is supported by three boned inserts. The cream silk covered with black lace forms a V shape on the bodice c/f. It fastens down the left front bodice panel with press studs. The front bodice side panels are decorated with a broad lace panel, edged with wooden beads and tied in cotton velvet. They are pleated onto the waistband. The bodice back is the same as front. The waist band is just above the natural waist and is pleated. It fastens with three hooks and eyes on the left front side. There are two covered buttons on the fastening edge. The skirt is flared with three front panels. The left front side panel opens with six press studs. The skirt back has two panels and is gathered to the waist. The sleeves are short and set in trimmed with a lace panel and beading. The bodice is lined with cotton. it is boned and fastens with hooks and eyes The shirt is lined in silk taffeta.
