Description
The miners have carbide lights attached to their bunnets, and one has his piece box in his pocket. They are wearing what was known in farming as 'Nicky Tams', strings to hold the bottoms of their trousers up out of the mud. One has a riveted leather object over his shoulder (a knee or elbow pad?)
