samian; decorated
Description
1 large rim sherd of Form 29, SG. The upper zone consists of festoons containing stirrup-leaves and separated by tassels ending in elongated buds. To the right of one of the tassels are three pointed leaves in vertical series, presumably part of a panel bordered on one side by a tassel. The winding scroll in the lower zone has two different leaves, one probably the same as in the upper zone, and a Nile goose to the left (Hermet 1934, pl. 28, 68). The festoons, with cogged outer border and plain inner one are unusual. c. AD 70-85
