Subject notes
The house was built in the 1850s and was the home of James Jones, the timber merchant. Tom Jones started a small yard at Camelon but soon moved to Larbert. The company grew quickly and, incidentally, supplied the substantial timber requirements for Scott's ship Discovery.

The house became a retirement home in 1952.
