 Description
Lapel badge with "ON WAR SERVICE 1914" stamped on it. Blue and gold with a crown in the centre. These badges were issued by the Admiralty to "workmen whose services are indispensable for rapid completion of HM ships and armaments" . Issued from December 1914 onwards they signified that the wearer was engaged in essential war work in shipyards and related employment.
