Description
Halfpenny Canadian trade token issued in Nova Scotia. On the obverse is a person with a bow, arrows and hunting dog and the words "COMMERCIAL CHANGE 1815". The reverse shows a sailing ship (sloop) sailing right with the legend "HALFPENNY TOKEN NOVASOCTIA".
Tokens were used in lower Canada during the small change shortage of the early 19th century.
