Description
Two franc coin from France. On the obverse is Mercury seated left, caduceus at left, shield on right and date below. It reads "COMMERCE INDUSTRIE DOMARD INV. 1920". The coin was engraved by Joseph-Francois Domard hence his name on the coin. On the rear is the denomination in the centre with the words "CHAMBRES DE COMMERCE DE FRANCE BON POUR 2 FRANC BR.AL.
The chamber of commerce issued coins from 1920-1929 they were aluminium bronze with some aluminium coins in the lower denomination. This was after gold coinage was stopped and the franc debased after the First World War.
