token; trade halfpenny (Ireland)

Production date
1792-1794
Description
Irish halfpenny conder token. On the obverse is Hibernia with a harp and whiskey still and the legend "INCOROPRATE BY ACT OF PARLIMENT 1792". On the reverse is the monogram H M Co (Hibernian Mining Company) and "CAMAC KYAN AND CAMAC HALFPENNY".

Some had on the edge the words "PAYABLE IN DUBLIN OR BALLYMURTAGH". These were issued between 1792-1794.
The Hibernian Mining Company operated in Ballymurtagh and the principal partners were Turner Camac, his brother John and John Howard Kyan. The company was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1792 (using the name of an older enterprise) and ceased trading by 1800. It is believed that most of the tokens were made in Dublin.

I dug up one of these somewhere in some garden decades ago. It's in pretty poor condition but with a magnifying glass I can make out these exact details noted above.
