Subject notes
To improve the water supply from the River Carron, local businessmen agreed in 1802 to construct a weir and lade (water channel) at Tamaree Linn (pool). The lade was to be 5 feet (1.5m) wide and 2.5 feet (0.75m) deep, to deliver a head of water of 10 feet (3m) at Herbertshire Mill. The bridge across the lade was moved to Brewster Burn at Garth Mill when the lade was infilled.
