bones
Description
Left metatarsal of an ox, the size and proportions closely match examples of Celtic type ox.
Vertabra, probably from the same animal.
Found December 1963. The cannon bone was found approximately 5ft below O.D. in sand (just above the junction with a gravel bed, 13ft below ground level) at the Primary Settling tank No. 2 of the Dalderse Sewage Works. The River Carron has been straightened in this vicinity and it is possible that this was simply in an old river course.
