Description
The ship is riding high, having discharged her cargo. Water is being discharged from two points in her hull. The jetty holds the ship some distance from the quayside. On the jetty is a gantry for lifting the flexible pipes used to pump the oil from ships' holds.

The water discharge is from the ship's condensers. Water for use in boilers had to be pure and therefore rather than loosing exhausted steam up the funnel it was fed to condensers cooled by a constant flow of sea-water. The pure water was returned to the boilers.
