Subject notes
The women are sitting on wickerwork and dining room chairs in the garden. There are three tables, one with fold out shelves. Two have table cloths. The older lady has cups and a teapot. There are scones and jam. Afternoon tea was popular and guests were often invited.

The image was taken by Thomas Easton, a Falkirk photographer. The women are members of his family and the location is probably the family home. He composed his images carefully; was the sixth chair for him, or for the cat?
