button

Description
17th century moulded lead button with a six-pointed geometric flower design on the front. The back has "16.62/ DM" cast into it in very low relief. Part of the letter "M" is obscured by the perforated attachment stub.
Presumably the initials are those of the maker, and the date is that of the mould. This was a metal detecting find and is similar to one found within a kilometre claimed as Treasure Trove (45/04). This suggests that we may have a local manufacture.
