Identified as Woodyett Pit in "Denny and Dunipace Roll of Honour". The colliery began as an ironstone mine in the mid 19th century. Later, as a coal mine, it was a fiery pit with a high incidence of firedamp (methane). In 1893 an explosion killed two men possibly when a miner opened his safety lamp and in 1936 another two died. Station Pit was Herbertshire Colliery No 3
