Description
Cast iron oven built into an arched recess in the kitchen at Callendar House. It is said to have been made by the Carron Company. The oven has a jacket of warm air around it during use. The front consists of a large hinged door with a spring latch. Above this is a small door for checking on the soot levels and two levers to operate a raking mechanism. Below the oven is the ashpan and a fire basket.
