Subject notes
Polmont Park House was built in the 1750s to the north-west of Polmont, in what is now Polmont Park, and was extended twice in the 19th century. It was demolished in the 1960s. The stable block survived. In the late 19th century the house was owned by the Griffiths. Azariah Griffiths was Provost of Falkirk from 1892 to 1895. His son Major Alfred Griffiths, a surgeon, was instrumental in raising Falkirk Cottage Hospital to infirmary status before the First World War. 9323 7923
