Subject notes
The man on the left of the photo is Jim Wardlaw. He was employed by McGregor's initially as a message boy in the 1920s, before working in the shop as a Grocer (Journeyman) until the 1950s, with a break for military service during WW2. The man on the right is Bert Christie, one of three brothers who owned the shop. Apparently they retained the McGregor name for the shop when they purchased it from the previous owners.
