The nose shear trimmed the front end of the strip prior to entry to stand 1 of the Three Stand Hot Strip Mill. The Three Stand Hot Strip Mill reduced the thickness of the strip in three staged reductions. It then coiled the strip ready for further processing in No 8 Cold Strip mill.
