Sites and Monument Record: Avondale House Folly (SMR 266)
Description
A folly belonging to Avondale House standing on a prominent knoll to its south. It takes the form of a small square (8m by 8m) pavilion or gazebo with a picture window in the north face overlooking the Forth. It is in the castellated style with a circular turret added to each corner, and an embattled parapet. A fireplace in the west wall shows that it was intended as a summer house/study. The roof would have had a low pitch, hidden from outside by the parapet.
