Sites and Monument Record: Braes Hill Fort (SMR 381)
Description
Isolated rocky knoll, commanding views to S., SW. and SE. Subrectangular on plan, measuring 46 m in length N to S by 26 m transversely. Circuit of rampart/wall visible only by a rubble core, in places forming a low mound, nothing remains of the inner face. Possible vitrifaction of inner face in the SE. section of the fort. Entrance on NW, close to the crest of the steep W flank. Interior is featureless. 2nd wall may exist, running from Sw corner of fort and following the margins of a terrace.
