Sites and Monument Record: Broad St 76, Denny (Duncarron Cottage) (SMR 418)

Description
Mid 19th century. Symmetrical single storey and attic, 3-bay cottage. Stugged ashlar with ashlar margins (was all painted - but now cleaned. Depressed-arched hoodmoulded entrance in projecting porch with tall, engaged, octagonal, corniced piers, with pinnacles, and linked by bracketed cornice and low parapet. Sash windows with cills and hood-moulds in outer bays. Moulded eaves cornice. 2 steeply gabled dormers with corbelled cills and depressed-arched, hood-moulded, sash windows. Corniced end stacks and slate roof. Low wing recessed at right has ball-finialled gable. Rear elevation of house; tall round-headed stair window with astragals in central advanced gabled bay.
A similar house may be found at Stoneywood called Strathcarron.
