Sites and Monument Record: Carron Bridge (New) (SMR 423)

Description
Single span stone bridge over the River Carron.
This bridge is located 800m to the ENE of the old bridge. The road from Denny used to follow the south bank of the River Carron to the old bridge, but when the new bridge was constructed around 1820 the road was diverted over it and a new stretch of road built on the north bank. The bridge is built perpendicular to the river, causing the road to go through to right angled bends.
In the 1990s the bridge abutments were underpinned with concrete.
