Sites and Monument Record: Bonnyside Armlet (SMR 522)

Description
A late Bronze Age gold bracelet was found at Cowden Hill during the construction of a light railway from Bonnyside Brickworks to the Forth and Clyde Canal in 1852. This was part of the lands of Bonnyside, which is given as the placename of the find. Consequently grid-references seem to refer to the house of that name instead of Cowden Hill. It was taken as Treasure Trove and donated to the National Museum in 1852. It is of massive form with round sections and slightly expanded terminals. There is no decoration, Irish Type 1 form, and weighs 202.4 grams.
