Started in July 1914 by Gillespie's Ltd. In 1929 it was taken over by Messrs Mitchell, Russell & Co Ltd. Smith & Wellstood Co were a major shareholder, and in 1951 it came under their direct control. The works closed in 1959. 1914- 20 employees. 1916- 48 employees. 1923- 200+ employees. 1954- c500.
