Charles Mason McNay established the Bridgeness Pottery in 1886. He and many of his employees came from the old Bo'ness Pottery. Charles McNay died in 1913 leaving the pottery to his 3 sons. During the Second World War the government commissioned orders from Bridgeness and the works prospered until suddenly closing in the 1950s.
