Founded in 1868 by William Thomson Mitchell. In 1886 made gates for the Edinburgh International Exhibition (see separate entry). Mitchell died in 1894 and 3 trustees ran the firm, Thomas Downie, Robert Maxwell and James Mitchell. Closed in 1990.
