Site history notes
Possibly associated with the old church of St Helens. The graveyard was finally closed in 1915. In 1971 it became incorporated into the grounds of the Community Centre.
The earliest gravestone is said to have dated to 1717, and the latest burial appears to have been in 1900.
In May 2006 a commemorative standing stone was unveiled on the site. The following April a gravestone was found in a "buttress" attached to the retaining wall at the SE end of the site (see dcoumentation).
