Sites and Monument Record: Denny Cemetery (SMR 771)

Description
This cemetery lies on the S side of the Main road from Denny to Falkirk, about 1 km from Denny Cross. Its focus is a small knoll which has been heavily terraced, and which now has a war memorial on its summit. The lodge which stood by the entrance gates was demolished in 1995.

The gravestone of James Russell of Longcroft was made by Mossman of Glasgow and includes a bronze plaque with a high relief image of the deceased by Daniel McGregor Ferguson. Russell was an antiquarian with an interest in the Antonine Wall.
