Sites and Monument Record: Kinneil Village (SMR 784)

Description
Late medieval & post-medieval pottery has been found in the field to the S of the old Parish Church. This is just the location that the village should be expected given the proximity of the church and the house. The Statistical account notes that the High Street ran along the line of the Antonine Wall. It also notes that the last houses were only removed in the late 18th century. Excavations in Feb 1998 by CFA found some stone walls and a well paved road.
