Sites and Monument Record: Carriden Roman Fort (SMR 793)
Description
Antiquarians have reported finds from the vicinity of Carriden House for some time, but it was only in 1945 that the site was confirmed by aerial photography which revealed the double ditches and entrance of the E side of the fort. Excavations followed and uncovered the E defensive ditches. Pottery has been found in the ploughed field which covers the E part of the fort. Nothing can now be seen on the ground.
