Opened in 1897 by James Dobbie ironfounder of Glasgow. In 1909 it was named James Dobbie & Co. The partners were James Dobbie, David McCulloch and William Spiers. The latter two retired in 1915 and the partnership was disolved by mutual consent. The Dobbie family continued the works, and in 1953 the sole partner was George Ure Dobbie. It appears to have been wound up in 1958.
