Description
Cast iron pier with a wooden decking. It extends 73m from a drawbridge in the west wall of Blackness Castle to a concrete pier in the Forth - a total distance of 79m. Its orientation is SW/NE. A cast iron crane sits on the end of the pier.

Erected in 1867-70 by the Government in order to transfer muntions from storage at the Castle to the fleet.
Structural renovation and new decking allowed the pier to be opened to visitors to the castle in 1999. Then in 2006 the pier was opened to private yachts and boats.
