Site history notes
The public house on the corner of Melville Street and Vicar Street, formerly the Burns Bar, has been a feature of the townscape since 1899, at which time there was no entrance from Vicar Street. The use of small monochrome tiles in the entrance vestibule here suggests that this layout dates to the 1920s. It is an interesting layout with a large weather shelter.
