Site history notes
In 1900 an evangelical tent was erected in the middle of West Carron village and subsequently Mr and Mrs Stewart of Woodcroft, Carronvale Road, undertook missionary work there. This work was hampered by the lack of a hall and in April 1901 Miss Dawson and Lady Dawson Brodie arranged with the Carron Company for land to be made available (as long as not required by the foundry). The two sisters then, at their own expense, erected a hall at the Square in West Carron. It cost £400 and part of the construction was carried out by Carron Company workmen.
The building comprised of two halls, the larger of which held 250 and the smaller 80. It was clad with corrugated iron and surrounded by a pressed steel fence. A harmonium was provided for the services. It was opened on 30 August 1902.
In the 1950s West Carron was slowly abandoned and a new site sought for the hall. The Carronbridge or White House was acquired by the Dawson Trust. In 1959 the Trustees of the William Dawson Trust agreed to build a new hall. AB Hornal, Denny acted as contractor and it opened on 1 October 1960.
