The Carron Company had its own extensive dock warehouses near the centre of London. It acquired its own ships in order to ensure the regular transport of its goods, initially to London. The Carron Shipping Line was established in 1772 and operated until after the Second World War. It operated a service four times a week from Grangemouth and Bo'ness to London.
