A group of about 50 workers pose for the camera. Most are young women, and they are wearing protective clothing. One holds a toddler. Of the eight men, most are older although there is a young man at the front and a soldier wearing a Glengarry.

Abbots Foundry Company was established on the site of an earlier foundry at Bankside and operated there until 1933. The company made cooking and heating appliances, guttering and rones.
