Letter from Charles Shaw, Spithead, to his father, James Shaw of Dalquhairn, mentioning that he would be happy if his father laid off horse selling ‘which has been the ruin of us all’, also mentioning that his [naval] ship has taken four prizes and that when he receives his prize money he will send it home. Asks that he does not mention the prizes to Mr Jameson. Also passing on general greetings to friends and family.
