Description
View taken from a tall chimney of the crude oil receiving tanks under construction. The bases of six tanks have been laid and one has had its walls raised. A crane is being used. Sheets of curved steel for forming the walls are lying on the site.

The tanks were to hold 8,000 tonnes each. In 1924 Scottish Oils Ltd opened a new refinery at Grangemouth specifically designed to refine Middle East crude. The company had earlier purchased the farm lands. The refinery was built at Wester Saltcoats farm.
