Description
A large group of children is standing outside the dyke around the smiddy's yard. There are about thirty children. Some are standing on the dyke. Two girls in the centre of the group are holding dolls. There is a baby in a pram at the right of the picture. Most of the girls are wearing skirts and jumpers; one to the right is wearing a coat, and another near the middle is wearing a jacket. Most of the boys are wearing short trousers and shirts and jumpers. One or two are wearing jackets, and some are wearing similar striped ties, probably school ties. A man and a boy are standing in the doorway of the smiddy in the background left. The smiddy is a single storey building with three visible entrances and two visible windows. There is another building, perhaps a hut, to the left. A lamppost on the pavement is in foreground left.
