Subject notes
The Union descended by a series of locks to connect with the Forth and Clyde. Each lock had a reservoir to supply it with water. The overgrown nature of the reservoir suggests that traffic and maintenance have declined. The bridge carried the Edinburgh Glasgow railway and has since been replaced.
