Subject notes
The Regent Works was located next to the railway station for the receipt of raw materials and dispatch of finished goods. Road transport was used for short distances only. Nobel's main operation was at Ardeer, Ayrshire, and there was another factory at Westquarter.

The factory was opened on 16 September 1902. It manufactured safety fuses but switched to explosives during the First and Second World Wars, despite its location in the heart of the town, opposite Linlithgow Academy.
