View from the High Street down Kirk Wynd showing The Railway Hotel and the Commercial Bank, as well as the A Harris Tobacco shop. The men are mainly in suits and bunnets but there are three soldiers wearing glengarries. Girls are wearing straw boaters and short skirts and a young woman is wearing a large check or tartan suit with calf length skirt.

The Kirk Wynd was widened in the early 1900s. The Hotel later became a shop and the bank, which was the Commercial Bank, later merged to become the National Commercial. After a further merger in 1969 it became the Royal Bank of Scotland.
