Ten men pause from building a large haystack to look to the camera. Six 'forkers' are on the ground. Two 'striddlers' are standing on a cart, to pass the hay up to the men building the haystack.

For large haystacks, it was necessary to have striddlers half way between the forkers and the builder on top of the stack to assist in passing up the hay.
