 Description
Moustache cup, pink in colour with white central section ringed in gold and white circular shells. In the centre in gold is written "A present from Avonbridge". Moustache cups have a semicircular ledge inside to allow liquids to pass but at the same time keep moustaches dry. It prevented staining and moustache wax melting into hot liquids. They were thought to have been invented in the 1860s by British potter Harvey Adams. Moustaches went out of fashion in the 1920-1930s so this item probably dates from between 1860s-1930s.
