Subject notes
The platform is a reinforced concrete raft to support the topping plant, designed by Ernest A Ridings.

Scottish Oils purchased the farm lands belonging to Easter, Mid and Wester Saltcoats. The refinery was built at Wester Saltcoats to process Middle East crude. The remaining land is still being farmed. The hay crop has been gathered by hand but has still to be taken in, or gathered into stooks and then built into haystacks.
