Description
Uniform of a Grangemouth Docks Custom's Official. Comprises of three parts issued in 1979 according to labels on the items.
1) Jacket - navy double breasted jacket closes with 8 gold buttons with the crown monogram on them. One breast and two waist pockets. Inside has navy lining and two pockets, one on the proper right has a button to close the other doesn't. Label on states "DRY CLEAN ONLY", a second label seems to have bee part of the issue and has printed on it "CUSTOMS & EXCISE 1979 567/79 HOOD. T. GRANGEMOUTH REVENUE ASSISTANT. 108 CUT 502 R/A/L/W JACKET JT11....." with information showing height, chest size, sleeve, leg length and waist. Also printed on it is "289E"
2) Trousers - navy trousers with two pockets at front and one at the back. It has a belt made of the same material as the trousers. On the belt buckle is "MADE IN ENGALND". Item is closed by a zip and and hook and eye, the hook has "BRIT. & FORS PATENTS". On the outside of one leg a label like the one on the jacket which has been stitched on and printed on it is "CUSTOMS & EXCISE 1979 567/79 4 HOOD. T. GRANGEMOUTH REVENUE ASSISTANT. 108 CUT 5024 ...J T 11 L/W TROUSER....." and other information as on the jacket. This one also has a sticker with "669" on it and this sticker is repeated in two places inside the trousers.
3) Arm bands - two arms bands to be worn with the jacket. Non- stretch material so not clear if were to be sewn on or how they were used. Usually the badge was sewn onto the cloths. The badge shows the Customs and Excise logo of a crown over a portcullis with laurel leaves. They are two different sizes and one has a sticker with "7 1/8" on it and the other "6 5/8"
